TipTuesday #12

#12

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are ready for the NEW YEAR!!
I can not believe that 2014 is 24 hours away? When? How? What did I miss?

The year always goes to fast for my liking! This New Years eve I am spending with some really lovely people.

As it is one of the biggest nights for a lot of people to go out, celebrate the new year, and forget the past year, a lot of people suffer from tiredness and sleep in their New Years make up. I am a culprit of forgetting/ being to lazy to take my make up of when I get in for a night out, I admit it. I know it's a bad thing to leave on your make, it clogs up your pores and can break you out in the following days.

Face wipes aren't the best thing for your skin but it sure is a lot better for you to take it off quickly than it is to leave all that gross, sweaty make up on over night.

I hope you will have a lovely New Years, and bring it in in style how ever you spend it, enjoy :)

 Happy New Year!

TipTuesday #11

Ok so not a beauty tip but a very useful tip I have learnt over the years.

My dad is a late christmas shopper. I mean late, he has sometimes come into work on Christmas eve asking... 'Which one do you think your mother would like?' Oh dad!!

I am a huge worrier, you are going to think I am completely crazy, but..... I tend to start getting Christmas gifts for people around about July... I don't like to stress and last minute Christmas shopping is s stressful as it gets!

Now if your family are like my dad, the thing I have found really useful is to make a list of the things you think the people you are buying for would like. A little secret that I haven't even told my dad, is I tick the things that I know wont be sold out come Christmas eve and then leave those things to my dad and get the more meaningful, speacil things around mid November beginning of December. Sometimes this works, sometime it doesn't.

I hope this little tip helps you destress and have a more relaxed Christmas!
And with that I hope you all have a great, relaxing, joyful and spirited Christmas day!!

Hope it helps,

Merry Christmas

Curling it up? It's sliding down?

Ever curled your hair before going out somewhere, only to look in the mirror a before leaving and seeing your hair has dropped a fair bit? I have, and after all that hard work, it's a bit of a ergh moment.

Well the first thing I have to say is....

Find yourself a GOOD hair holding spray! I brought a cheap one, and I don't know what I expected, but it didn't hold my hair at all.... me being cheap there.
A good hair spray will give you that bit more time and keep your locks shape and curl.

The other thing I have to say is to make sure, that when you are curling your hair, if you have had a shower, make sure that your hair is completely 100% dry. If you curl your hair when it's that little bit wet doesn't work. Wet hair, is heavier hair,. the curls will not stay in the shape you want and will fall out. Also using a heating iron on wet hair?! Have you not heard that sizzle, the little scream your hair makes when you are effectively frying it? It's not good to use a hot hair iron on wet hair, it will damage your hair.

Make sure you use a heat protection spray when using a curling wand or straighteners  it will keep your hair looking healthier and limit the amount of split ends your appliance could make.

Quick tip for today...

When applying blusher, place two fingers on the side of your nose, resting on your cheek.

Where the side of your fingers end, this is where you should apply your blusher.

And that's it folks. I've gone overboard before so hopefully you can learn from my embarrassing red face or should I say very pink face!

Hope it helps,

If you suffer from oily skin and your hair suffers too don't fiddle with it! I do this all the time, a long day at work or university and I find myself running my fingers through my hair, pushing my fringe out the way.

I've always suffered with this problem, and now, in this weird summer heat that we here in England have actually had this year, means that things are a bit worse. I've resolved my problem with just putting my hair up and out the way. The only thing is, if we are going out somewhere and I want to do something to my hair I have to keep my fingers away from it. Grease from your fingers tips transfers the oils and ruins any styling you may have done. If you want voluminous hair don't touch it, retain yourself, and the easiest way I deal with this, is just to pin my fringe out the way, easy and there are tons of hair styles out there on the internet that can show you different ways to do this with all sorts of hair lengths!

Another thing is to try and avoid washing your hair on a daily basis! Washing your hair takes away the natural oils and in-turn your scalp makes more oils to replace the ones you have just washed away. In the past, for me, I've found the more I wash my hair, the quicker it gets greasy again. Not what I want! So now I try to wash my hair every other day, probably not the best for it, but that's just how I am dealing with it right now.

Exfoliate before applying fake tan. A simple thing I know but I've seen a few girls wearing fake tan around. You know how I know they are wearing a fake tanning lotion.... blotchy knees! Not a good look...

You can easily buy exfoliating gloves from places like Boots, The Body Shop and even local super market, although the quality does vary.
Exfoliating also helps out your skin, getting rid of the dry to reveal the new, fresh and well rejuvenated skin.

You shouldn't just do this in the colder month's were we like to fake tan, but in all of the months! It just make's you appear cleaner, brighter and healthier.

TipTuesday #6

Wow I'm sorry I haven't blogged anything for a while, the last week and a half has been crazy busy and I almost missed the fact that it was a Tuesday today!!

#6

Wearing white eye liner widens the eyes. It also makes the eyes appear just that bit further apart from one another. Don't go crazy with the white eye liner thought, it will probably look a bit creepy, just a little layer can work miracles.

White eye liner can also reduce the appears red in and around your eye.

Simple :)

TipTuesday #5

So today's tip is a quick one...

Do you ever wake up from a really heavy sleep and fine you have red lines all over you arm or even your face? I have, and because I was not fully awake it thought I'd been scratched on my arms and face by like a cat! ( We don't have a cat, so you can see how awake I was!)

Well apparently having a silky pillow protects you skin from these lines, which can cause wrinkles! Now I'm only in my twenty's, but if this work's I am all for it! I was watching TV the other day and a lady who declared herself 82, had AMAZING skin!! I was shocked, this was just a real lady! Not a celebrity, just a normal grandma to somebody. I was shocked and I will say, a little envious!

I don't want to get old, but inevitably, old age is coming at me, so if this silky pillow helps my skin of course I am going to try it out!!

So not fully tested tip, which I'm sorry I can't really try out and give a full review, because let face it, it would take years. But I can definitely see the logic in this.  I will give is a try and hopefully others can give this a try too!

Sweet Dreams :)

TipTuesday #4

A lot of people are loving the bright lipsticks this season, and who can blame them? Summer was meant for bright colours and playful patterns.

If you feel like using a bold glossy lipstick/gloss, don't over do your look with bright sparkly eye shadow. To much glitter is not a great look for the day time.
If you want to rock the eyes and a bold lip try using a shimmery eye shadow with a matte lip. This wont overpower your look and people will know where to look, whilst a face of glitter and sparkle can result in eyes flying all over your face, not knowing where to look!

I have always thought 'Less is more' but 'If you have it flaunt it' or in this case rock it. Dark lipsticks unfortunately don't suit me so to those of you who do suit it, note, I'm jealous!

Hope it helps,

TipTuesday #3

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!!!

Our bodies depend on water for survival, waters makes up about half of our body weight! It is so important to keep yourself hydrated through the day.
Not only does water help your complexion but it helps keep you at your best for the day.

Some issues that you might have if you do not drink enough water is that you can have...

  • Headaches
  • Dry mouth
  • Fatigue or Sleepiness
  • Confussion
  • Lightheaded
  • Dizziness

I suffered a bit with dehydration when I was in school, especially during the exam time. (Two to three hours in an exam hall, not allowed to go out to use the toilet and of course the summer time heat, meant that a lot of people suffered with headaches and light-headedness during and after exams, including myself.)

Ways in which I combated my problems proved really useful to me and a few friends.
Things like...

  • Keeping a see-through plastic bottle (see through for exams) was a really easy way to keep hydrated through the school days, I still do this now on a day to day basis. Reusing the plastic bottle means that I'm saving money instead of buying a new one everyday and it also means that creating waste is limited.
  • I saw a Youtube video a few years ago that actually inspired me to do this one: If plain water doesn't take your fancy then try adding a slice of lemon or lime. Or if you have a bit more time, get some fresh fruit, clean and blend using a blender, add some water and then place into ice trays. Make sure the ice tray create ice that can be placed into a bottle if you want to take it out the house, and ta da!, flavoured water.
  • Drink before and after doing exercise, this will help you out when finishing your work out so you don't become light headed or dizzy.

Hope it helps,

TipTuesday #2

Do you have problems with your hair in the shower, like strands coming out? (Gross I know :( !) Well a useful little tip that I have learned for anybody else who has long-ish hair, if you give you hair a once over with a brush, I find that a LOT less hair seems to fall out.

#2
A brushing before a shower gets ride of the most loose strands and helps you out when shampooing and conditioning. Now I do not know why I have this problem, maybe it's stress, maybe I just need a REALLY good hair cut, but I have been dealing with this problem for as long as I can remember, in the last year however it has gotten a lot lot worse ( probably due to stress).

I find that brushing your hair before washing it means that my hair isn't a nightmare to deal with when it comes t drying it.

I know I'm not the only one, but it does get on my nervous and I'm sure it does for other people who deal with it too. I find this method works for me.

Hope it helps,

TipTuesday #1

So I thought about doing a TipTuesday... just sharing all the tips and tricks I have learnt ranging from a variety of things. I am NOT AN EXPERT in beauty and in no way am I educated in the beauty and health area, these are just small things I have either found out by my self or others have passed onto me. If you have any tips that you want to share let me know, I might give it a try and pass on your lovely words of wisdom :)

#1
I find that my hair care gets bored and resistant to the products that I use after a certain length of time. Usually my hair becomes resistant to a shampoo a week or two before I can finish the bottle. Now I find this annoying but for my hair, the best thing to do is switch it up a little. Just changing the brand from Herbal Essences to L'oreal helps to give my hair that bit more, shine, smoothness and spring to it. I think that, for me this is the best thing to do. My hair feels healthier with something new, whether it's just for another two weeks, and then I change back to the first product.

Variety is the best thing for me, trying different products allows me to understand my hair needs.

Hope it helps,
