March Life Round Up

image

I can not believe that March is almost over, mothers day, extreme work sessions, trying to get to the gym three times a week, applying for graduation and then final going home for Easter, its been a busy month.

March has been the month that kicked us up the bum on the work load front. Rallying the group together to get back up to speed with a project was difficult, but hey nothing is more motivating than having a deadline pulled forward.

If theres one tip I could give anybody its to plan and write everything down into a clear and precise calendar. That way you set deadlines for yourself, you can see what's going on what day and theres a lot more motivation within the group! (and for yourself!)

At the start of the month I wanted to set myself a little goal, go to the gym minimum three times a week.
Four weeks, Three days a week, thats 12 gym days. Really thats not much! THIS GIRL CAN! And I have! (God do I feel better for it!) To be honest I'm not one for exercise, unless its with friends and we are having a laugh do it. The gym was something that always scared me. However as soon as you realise that everybody is there to get themselves better at something and don't really care what you are doing at the gym, going on your own is not as scary as I once thought! (If you are really nervous about going to the gym on your own, go with friends a couple of times and work out when its the quietest, that was you can build up your confidence with the machines and go at good times!)

Term 2 is over and oh my gosh I can not believe it! I'm thankful but a bit scared, I'm not going to lie!
The term was a long one but flew by, I can not believe I applied for graduation, it seems scary that my university life is almost over! April is on the door step and I can not believe how fast the year has gone so far, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the rest of the year has for us!

M.A.C | Pro Palette | Eye Shadow No.3 Retrospeck

Retrospect is a light shimmery neutral white/gold colour, great for everyday. I like to use this shadow as a highlight mostly but looks great all over the lid. This would be beautiful all over the lid for summer and spring and a nice highlight on the brow bone over the colder periods.

I don't have much fall out when I apply it onto the lid, but in the pan this little shadow does make the most mess.

Theres not too much glitter it has more of a shimmery look and is easily versatile. I love this eyeshadow best with a strong black cat eye look. The shade is perfect for those who aren't big with eyeshadows as it gives a gorgeous wide eyed effect without too much faff!

My 'Go To Makeup Look' for March

Pretty much all through February and so far into March I have found myself repeating the same face of make up day after day. Sounds like I'm stuck in a rut but I've been loving a light natural face for these fresh weekdays we have been having recently!

I've found a good foundation in Maybelline FIT MEand of course stuck to it for a good length of time, this could be my third bottle? I do love it! For one it smells amazing, (It smells like Love Heart sweets to me) which might not be something everybody looks for in a foundation but this was a pleasant surprise for me when i first tried It!

MAC's paint pot in Painterly is just the staple piece for every look. For me its the perfect tone to match my skin colour, it makes a great base for eyeshadow and is super easy to apply! (I use it everyday!)

For eyeshadow it's self I've been loving MAC's Patina, a beautiful all over the eye colour for day time and easily buildable to transition to night time. To apply this gorgeous colour I've been using the Blank Canvas Cosmetics E26 fluffy brush. Amazing for a light dusting, blending and transferring from pan to lid without fallout.

MaxFactor MasterpieceMAX mascara, in comparison to the rest of the makeup listed is relatively new, although I've been using it since the last couple of months in 2014. It isn't my favourite brush but the formula is lovely, smooth and doesn't have a tendancy to fall down my face or wear away during the day.

I've always had problems with my lips, during the winter months they get very dry, sore and split a lot from the cold weather (horrible I know but I have to be honest). I brought this lip balm back in the summer of 2014, it is part of The Body Shop's Wild Argan Oil Solid Oil Lip Balm. During the summer this was a beaut, during autumn it again was amazing, during the winter... well, it didn't combat the dry weather attacking my lips entirely, but it helped them keep smooth and less... split a lot longer than I ever expected from any type of lip balm! I maybe had one or two days of bad dry lips. (However considering I used to have sore lips on a daily occurrence they thing gets top marks in my books!)

The last thing I started doing more regularly towards the end of February was wearing a lipstick (hold for gasps) Its never been something I felt comfortable in wearing, note back to the painful and horrible split lips of my teenage years. However with the help of the lip balm Ive enjoyed wearing Revlon Lip Butter in Pink Truffle which i have been absolutely in love with since I brought it last summer.

#DearMe Advice for my Younger Self

image

Lets start with school...
  • Don't worry so much about what other people think of you. You'll learn along the way that, actually people don't really care what you look like or the clothes you wear on mufti day! At the end of the day,  the people that do judge are the ones who are even more insecure about themselves, and the ones that don't care about the clothes you wear are the people who could turn out to be pretty amazing friends!
  • Maybe the full fringe wasn't the best choice, but you know what, it grows out pretty fast, don't stress about it!
  • The Grass is not always greener on the other side. You and Alice will have the shortest but most eye opening conversation about it and it will stick in your mind way after you leaving sixth form.
  • Applying to university, and feeling pressured by your tutors to do UCAS , doesn't mean you have to go straight after school, I know you aren't ready for that. Talk to Mr T in art and look for other options - Art Foundation is something I look back on and I'm so pleased I did it!
  • All the first car problems you have, gives you a great opportunity to hang out with dad, maybe even learn a bit more about cars and time that you'll never get back helping dad.
  • The college trip to France might give you a few problems which takes a few years to over come, but you know what, you're actually doing really well and have found some fantastic friends that have stood by you though all your problems!
Finally ...
  • Spend as much time as you can with family, walk the dogs with your cousins, wash the cars with dad, keep in touch with people from college. Time is short, don't let a day go past without spending time with people in your life.
(TV, Social Media and all the other stuff that takes time out of your day will still be there, but people and pets are precious and have their own time limits. Enjoy your life and don't stress about the things you have no control over.)
